    Israel Kamakawiwo’ole

    The Starfish
    Ka Hôkû Kai
    [kah HOH' KOO' kai]

Once upon a time, there was a wise kupuna (elder),
who went to the sea to contemplate.
One day, while walking along the shore,
the kupuna looked down the beach,
    and saw a gracefully dancing
    human figure.

    The kupuna wondered out loud,
“Who would so joyfully greet this day with hula?”
and began to walk faster to catch up.

    Getting closer,
the kupuna saw that the dancer was a keiki (child),
who was not dancing at all.
The keiki was reaching down to the sand to pick up something,
and was very gently throwing it into the sea.

The kupuna called out to the keiki,
    “Aloha! What are you doing?”

The keiki paused, looked up and replied,
    “Throwing starfish into the sea.”

    Surprised, the kupuna sputtered,
“I…I guess I should have asked,
WHY are you throwing starfish into the sea?”

The keiki smiled brightly, pointed upward and,
    with exquisite simplicity, replied,
“The sun is up, the tide is going out.
If I don’t throw them in, they will die.”

“But, don’t you realize, ” asked the kupuna,
“that there are miles and miles of beach
    and starfish all along it?
You can’t possibly make a difference!”

    The keiki listened politely.
Then bent down, picked up another starfish,
threw it gently into the sea, just beyond the breaking waves,
    and exuberantly declared,
“It made a difference for that one.”

    A small clip I made, Enjoy :)

    Lyrics:

Aruba, jamaica ooo I wanna take you
Bermuda, bahama come on pretty mama
Key largo, montego baby why dont we go
    Jamaica

    Off the florida keys
    Theres a place called kokomo
Thats where you wanna go to get away from it all

    Bodies in the sand
Tropical drink melting in your hand
    Well be falling in love
To the rhythm of a steel drum band
    Down in kokomo

Aruba, jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To bermuda, bahama come on pretty mama
Key largo, montego baby why dont we go

Ooo I wanna take you down to kokomo
    Well get there fast
And then well take it slow
    Thats where we wanna go
    Way down to kokomo

    To martinique, that monserrat mystique

    Well put out to sea
    And well perfect our chemistry
By and by well defy a little bit of gravity

    Afternoon delight
    Cocktails and moonlit nights
That dreamy look in your eye
Give me a tropical contact high
    Way down in kokomo

Aruba, jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To bermuda, bahama come on pretty mama
Key largo, montego baby why dont we go

Ooo I wanna take you down to kokomo
    Well get there fast
And then well take it slow
    Thats where we wanna go
    Way down to kokomo

Port au prince I wanna catch a glimpse

    Everybody knows
    A little place like kokomo
    Now if you wanna go
And get away from it all
    Go down to kokomo

Aruba, jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To bermuda, bahama come on pretty mama
Key largo, montego baby why dont we go

Ooo I wanna take you down to kokomo
    Well get there fast
And then well take it slow
    Thats where we wanna go
    Way down to kokomo

Aruba, jamaica ooo I wanna take you
To bermuda, bahama come on pretty mama
Key largo, montego baby why dont we go

Equitrekkings Emmy nominated host and equestrian travel expert Darley Newman rides with paniolos, Hawaiian cowboys, at Parker Ranch and Kahua Ranch, both working cattle ranches in Waimea, the Big Islands cowboy country. Next Darley ventures down into Waipio Valley, the Valley of the Kings, one of the most remote and sacred spots on the Big Island and home to a unique breed of wild horses. With a cattle ranching history predating mainland American ranches by a generation, the people of Hawaii have strong ties to horses. Equitrekking explores this tradition, beginning at Parker Ranch, one of the oldest and largest ranches in the United States. To experience life as a Hawaiian paniolo (cowboy), Darley rides through green pastures with majestic Mauna Kea as a backdrop and learns about cowboy culture in Waimea. Next Darley rides at Kahua Ranch, a working cattle ranch in Waimea. Darley takes in stunning views of the ocean and Kohala coastline as she gallops through the lush, green hills. Next Darley hits a black sand beach, goes outrigger canoeing surrounded by sea turtles, explores Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and attends a luau. Finally, Equitrekking ventures to one of the most remote and sacred parts of the Big Island, Waipio Valley, the Valley of the Kings. This sacred valley is home to a herd of wild horses, the only wild herd in the state. Riding Hawaiian Horses, Darley learns about this unique breed, while munching on avocado, papaya, and star fruit grown on trees in the valley. Only a small number of people live in this valley, surrounded by 1000-foot cliffs lined with waterfalls. Darley learns about life off the grid, as she explores the rivers and natural wonders of this special place.Emmy nominated host and producer Darley Newman takes viewers to the best destinations to go horseback riding, exploring with local people to learn about history, culture and stunning wildlife and natural surroundings. Experience equestrian travel as expert Darley takes you riding on the beaches of Southern Spain, in a northern California Redwood Forest, the rainforest in Costa Rica or through the lush, green countryside of Ireland.
