  • Hawaii Statehood Dance Festival (Anchorage, Alaska)

Posted by admin on July 14th, 2010 and filed under hawaii attractions | 6 Comments »

Talofa, everyone. Let’s get outdoors and have some fun! Here I am Downtown again, supporting a good cause. This time Alaska celebrates our neighbors from the far South during the ADP (Anchorage Downtown Project) Hawaii Day Celebration (Hawaii Statehood Celebration). There is music and dance during these non-profit celebrations. See hot island girls dancing and guys with flaming batons. I found out later that the party usually runs from 1:00pm – 3:00pm in Peratrovich Park in Downtown Anchorage, if you’re lucky enough to catch it. I was fortunate to be walking by at the right time with enough room in my camera to capture some of the action.

Thanks for letting me tape this. Sorry about the shaky video. Next time I’ll bring my tripod!

    Itinerary:
    1 – 1:20 p.m. — Ke KiaI A O Hula (Traditional Hawaiian Dance)
1:20 – 2:45 p.m. Hula Hui Na Haumana O Alaka (Polynesian Dance Troupe)
    2:45 – 3:30 p.m. — Tupulaga (Youth Dance Group)

    How to Travel in Hawaii

http://twitter.com/chrispirillo – http://www.hawaii-aloha.com – People always say that Hawaii is best known and loved for the gorgeous scenery and weather. I have to disagree. My favorite thing about the Islands is the food. Brucetook me to a “hole-in-the-wall” (for lack of a better word) restaurant recently. It was hands-down the best food I’ve eaten in a very long time. I had to ask Bruce to share with us the best places to eat in Hawaii, and where to find the best food. http://twitter.com/alohabruce – http://chris.pirillo.com
