  • Has the Pear Harbor Bombing In 1941 altered Tourism in Hawaii? if so How?

Posted by admin on March 5th, 2010 and filed under hawaii tourism | 1 Comment »

The bombing made the Hawaiian islands a war zone, and there was the fear that the Japanese might invade Hawaii. No tourism functioned until many islands had been taken from the Japanese in 1943 and 1944. By 1945 the islands were once more a site for tourism. Today the site of the sunken battleship the USS Arizona is a memorial to the soldiers and sailors that died on that day of December 7, 1941, in Pearl Harbor, and is one of the biggest memorials in any of the 50 states. Recently some 40 million dollars has been set aside for renovation and upgrading of the site.
